All UK ports must have a certified port facility security officer (PFSO). The PFSO is required to implement security measures stated in the International Ship and Port Facility Code (ISPS Code)
Each facility must have a PFSO, although a single PFSO is allowed to be responsible for multiple facilities. Each facility must also have a trained deputy
To fulfil the role of PFSO, a candidate must first complete a 3-day PFSO course at an accredited training provider.
Our course is suitable for all those persons that in the role of PFSO, Deputy PFSO or those persons that may deal with any of the duties as required by the ISPS Code, Operations Managers, Health & Safety Managers or Ships Agents. It is also a great option for Security Professionals requiring CPD or wishing to upskill their CVs.

· ISPS code and national standards: Understand and apply the ISPS Code and meet national security requirements.
· Security planning and risk management: Develop, revise, and supervise PFSPs, conduct security risk assessments, and manage effective security operations.
· Threat identification and preparedness: Recognise potential threats, perform emergency drills, and maintain a vigilant security environment.
· Security awareness: Cultivate a proactive security culture and encourage vigilance across the facility.
· Equipment and access control: Oversee security equipment functionality and implement robust access controls.
PFSOs are required to undergo refresher training every 5-years. This one day course updates PFSOs on the latest threat and changes to legislation. It includes guidance on how to implement the current Pot Facility Security Instructions.
This course conforms to the requirements for the UK Government, Department for Transport (DfT) Maritime Security Division. It may not be valid overseas.
