Paul has over 38 years’ experience working within the ports industry. His progressive career involved providing security services including waterborne patrols, policing and security management.
He has held the role of PFSO (PD Ports Group) and PSO (T&HPSA). Having been involved in the application of the International Ship & Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code since its inception in 2004.
Alongside this Paul had a secondary 35-year career as an Army Reservist, serving with both the Royal Military Police, a key achievement in this period was developing and delivering port policing training to the Iraqi River Police. Latterly Paul served with Royal Engineers as Warrant Officer. In this role he provided protective security advice for maritime ports to HM armed forces and their partners.
Paul has been delivering training for most his career, specialising in Port Facility Security Officer and ISPS awareness and search. His training background includes getting the PFSO course adapted for Teesside University, on the working groups for National Occupational standards in Port Security and Security Search Operations.
Paul continues to maintain his shop floor skills as a member of the Security & Safety team at Sunderland AFC and other SIA roles.
